FIRST® Tech Challenge students work together with their mentors to design and build robots to compete in a dynamic and exciting challenge released every September. Teams program classroom-scale robots to follow autonomous commands before student drivers take control in two-on-two matches.

Each January brings a new challenge for FIRST® Robotics Competition teams. Starting with a Kit of Parts, they design, program, and build industrial-sized robots to play an action-packed game on a themed field as part of a three-team alliance. Guided by mentors and sponsors, students learn engineering and problem-solving skills.

Our Mission &
Board of Directors.
The Alberta Robotics Association (ARA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering youth through the exciting world of robotics. We provide opportunities for students across Alberta to engage in hands-on STEM education by participating in FIRST LEGO League (FLL), FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) community programs. With teams based in both Edmonton and Calgary, ARA is a hub for innovation, collaboration, and skill development. Our mission is driven by an incredible network of mentor volunteers who guide and support students as they explore engineering, coding, and teamwork. By fostering creativity and problem-solving, ARA helps shape the next generation of leaders and innovators in science, technology, and beyond.
